Haines Boatyard

In 1983, the Haines family, who had run their boatyard business at Ferryside, Itchenor, since the early 1900's, placed the business on the market. The business was purchased by a group of members of Itchenor SC with the aim of preserving the boatyard activity and thus supporting boating in the harbour. Many of the club keelboat fleet moorings are managed by Haines Boatyard. Almost 40 years later, the majority of the shareholders of Haines Boatyard are ISC members who race keelboats with the club owning 7%. Haines Boatyard is a not for profit organisation and does not pay dividends.

Hyde Sails

Like many of the successful sail lofts in the world, Hyde Sails grew from racing and in particular racing one-design dinghies. The need to eke out small differences in performance between identical boats imposes values of quality and discipline in the manufacture of sails that are not so important in other branches of sailmaking. But the challenge of making sails of exactly the right shape, with top class materials and faultless craftsmanship permeates through all the sails we make from racing yacht to old gaffer.
