The information supplied when a vessel registration form is submitted may be held by National Historic Ships UK in perpetuity for archive purposes and is kept on our electronic record system which is only accessible by authorised staff. Personal data is also held alongside relevant vessel images or application for copyright and acknowledgment purposes. Newsletter & Surveys
NHS-UK uses MailChimp to provide our e-mail newsletter service and undertake surveys. In order to sign up to this service, an individual has to submit personal information about themselves (e.g. name, e-mail address, interests).
This personal data is collected by MailChimp on behalf us. The data is stored on a secure MailChimp server. MailChimp are not permitted to use the data for their own purposes nor to sell or distribute it on to any other individual, organization or business under any circumstances.
You have the right to unsubscribe at anytime using the link at the bottom of the newsletter or by emailing info@nationalhistoricships.org.uk.
Calendar
When you receive a Calendar from us, you are receiving this mailing because your data is held by National Historic Ships UK in association with a vessels on the National Registers or because you have chosen to receive our updates. Your personal data is kept on our electronic records system which is accessible only to authorised staff. You have the right to opt out of receiving any future mailings from us. Competitions & Awards
The information supplied when submitting an entry or nomination may be held in perpetuity for archive purposes and kept on our electronic record system which is only accessible by authorised staff. Details of the winners and nominees of the awards will also be shared for judging purposes and held as a historical record of the award if you are successful. The personal data is held alongside the relevant images or application for copyright and acknowledgment purposes. Winners of awards will be asked to complete a claim form and supply their payment details in order to receive their prize. This data is collected to enable us to process the relevant payment, is stored in a secure area and is viewable by a member of the Awards team and authorised staff from the finance department only. Sales
The information we receive when you purchase our Guidance Manual or Calendar will only be used to enable the purchase you have requested via our Paypal Account. The record of this transaction will be held on our electronic records system and Paypal Account which is only accessible to authorised staff.
Flags & Ensigns
All personal data captured by NHS-UK through the Ensign Permit process will be deleted after three years. However, for the purpose of validating the warranty, boat name, registration number and permit number will be retained. The data relating to privileged ensigns is also shared with the Royal Yachting Association in order to comply with its legal obligation to the Secretary of State for Defence.
Directory of Skills & Services & National Register of Historic Vessels
NHS-UK manages the Directory of Skills & Services through its Shipshape Network which includes data on individuals and companies. All those listed on the Directory have given us permission to use their data in this way and can ask for their details to be removed at any time.
NHS-UK invites you to contribute to parts of our website, by making a contribution to our National Register of Historic Vessels, The National Directory of Skills and Services, or entering our Photography Competition. Under the UK Data Protection Act 2018, we do not share any personal or confidential information unless permission has already been granted.
