XM Yachting was formed in 1977 when 2 sailors set up their own chandlery manufacturing and distribution business. Based in East Sussex for just over 20 years, In 2001 it was bought out to new owners. The move to their new Head Quarters in Hedge End, near Southampton only came about a few years later at the end of October 2003.

Acts as advisor to HLF and individual heritage vessels. Can carry out surveys; produce conservation management plans, audience development plans and access plans using specialist staff where appropriate. Can also provide advice on business plans for heritage projects. Larger projects are carried out in conjunction with Frazer-Nash Consultancy Limited which offers a much wider range of specialist engineering skills.

I have experience in the restoration of old vessels, specialising in designing and making of the boat joinery, such as skylights, deckhouses and other interior work.

We design and build historic wooden sailing vessels. Specialising in pilot cutters from the Isles of Scilly of the mid-ninteenth century. We build using original methods of construction and authentic design.

Since 1908, on the same banks of the River Thames, five generations of Woottens have been building, restoring, repairing, maintaining and mooring traditional and vintage wooden boats. Practicing and employing traditionally trained and highly skilled professionals, we pride ourselves on being one of few boat builders who utilise the rich craft of our past, today.
