A long established, family owned company, with a very proud marine history. The foundations of this company commenced in 1928 when the late Tom Williams, at the age of 14, started working on Hartlepool’s deep sea trawlers. Tom eventually created a record of 73 years sailing from his home port when in 2001 at the age of 87 he finally retired from the sea.

Wooden yachts and clinker built dinghies have been built at Kings Boatyard, at Pin Mill on the River Orwell, since 1850. The yard has facilities to store just over 100 boats; offering launching, pressure washing, mast storage, dinghy and car parking to our customers. We can also supply swinging moorings on the River Orwell. We have the handed down skills needed to build a clinker built tender, either for rowing or with a rig, to your individual requirements. We also carry out general repairs to major restoration projects.

Gardner Marine Diesels offer specialist services, parts and engines to the historic and classic vessel world. We are the new home of Gardner engineering and the only organisation dedicated to the servicing of Gardner marine engines, supporting historic and classic vessel owners worldwide.

Harold Hayles Ltd is the boatyard situated by the bridge in Yarmouth Harbour.

The boatyard has been run by family businesses for over 70 years and incorporates the 18th century Sandhouse, the oldest commercial building still in use in Yarmouth Harbour.

We’re family-run and our business has stood the test of time. Since 1980, our family name has been synonymous with excellence. Founded by Bob and Mary haines, they set the values we continue to stand by: trust, quality, and tradition. Our father always wanted to build boats and began with canoes in the family garage. Our family holidays were always taken by the sea in North Norfolk and so this is the place we will remain. Building boats that last a lifetime.

With an eye focused on the future, Harken has established new, efficient production facilities in the USA and Italy. Ownership and responsibility for manufacturing and quality control is a relatively recent development at Harken.
