The college provides a one-year yacht and boatbuilding course which is 70% practical and 30% theory plus City & Guilds Parts I-III and BTEC courses. NVQs: Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) Level 1, Composites Foundation Course (includes PEO Level 1). Marine Apprenticeships.

Set in a beautiful and secluded valley, yet in a central location, Island Harbour is the perfect base from which to explore the Island and the Solent. Located in navigable water on the River Medina, the marina is approximately two miles upstream from Cowes, just above the Folly Reach.

Back in March 1925, three Irons brothers purchased, for £350 the premises and equipment previously owned by G. Harris , a specialist in the production of water pumps.  Harris was based in the small market town of Wadebridge in Cornwall and this is where the company manufactures today.

Over the years the business grew and evolved and in May 1930 was incorporated as Irons Brothers Ltd.

Ipswich Haven Marina has been open since May 2000 and was officially opened at a ceremony in July 2000 by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston when he predicted that “Ipswich Haven Marina will fast become the star attraction on the east coast”.

The management team are confident that we have maximised our “attraction” and now can be proud that after our most recent extension we have 320 berths and 30 dedicated visitor berths that attract almost 2000 visiting yachts to our marina annually.

These year long Diploma Courses are delivered by distance learning. All courses lead to a Bsc and MSc in Maritime Studies. Diploma in Cargo Surveying, Diploma in Marine Industry Surveying, Diploma in Yacht & Small Craft Surveying, Diploma in Marine Engineering Surveying, Second Level Diploma Course leading to a BSc (Hons).

We have been building boat builders for over 37 years. Originally set up to cater for the training needs of the Broads yards we now have graduates working in yards far and wide.
