History
AMAZING MAISIE was built in 1955 as a Fishing Anchor Seiner, or Danish Seiner. She was built by George Thomson and Sons of Buckie, Moray, for N K Thomsen of Whitehaven, Cumbria. She is oak on larch build and was fitted with a Norris Henty and Gardiners diesel engine. Originally her name was NIELS RISAGER.
In 1965, she was purchased by P Cross and others of Fleetwood, Lancashire. In 1970, she was purchased by O B Clapham and others of the Isle of Islay, Inner Hebrides. In 1974, she was registered at Campbeltown, Argyll and Bute.
In 1981, she was purchased by A C Westray of Kirkwall, Orkney. However, in 1982, she was purchased by T R W Rawsell of Exmouth, Devon, and brought down there. Since then, she has been based on the River Exe, either at Exmouth or Exeter.
In 1992, she was converted into a trawler and in 1999 her fishing registry was cancelled, with the vessel being used as a leisure vessel since then. In 2009, she was fitted with an 8.2 litre six-cylinder Doosan Diesel engine. In 2018, she was purchased by her current owners, who completed a complete refit.
