History

MFV KESTEVEN was built by Herd & Mackenzie in Buckie in 1973, yard number 250 and launched on the 19th of December 1973. She was built for the Delga Fishing Company Ltd of Grimsby as an anchor seiner (Snibbie) with the registration number of GY277. She successfully fished from Grimsby under different owners over the years.

She was later sold to an Orford company and worked from Lowestoft, long-lining, gill netting and seining. KESTEVEN, as many other Snibbies, was employed in the Guard Boat service in the North Sea during slack periods and was later rigged for stern trawling. KESTEVEN was later sold away to Newry in Northern Ireland and re-registered as N277, where she continued to fish up until 2018 when she was sold out of trade.

Since being sold out of trade KESTEVEN has undergone extensive renovation and conversion to a cruising / liveaboard vessel keeping her in as original condition as possible, and she is now based on the River Blackwater in Essex.
