History

FAITH was built in 1962 as TWEE GEBROEDERS by Scheepswerf en Machinefabriek Gebr. van de Sande Breskens BV, the Netherlands, for J. & D. Marijs of Breskens, the Netherlands. She was built as a trawler and would be used to fish shrimp and flatfish. She had an innovative steel build, as her round hull consists of four shaped and rolled plates on either side, lap jointed and welded. These four plates run the full length of the boat in one sheet, with there being no vertical weld joints. She is also the first steel beamtrawler to be entirely built in Breskens.

Her original engine was a 150 HP Berliet DTM 640, built in 1962. In 1966, her engine was replaced with a 248 HP Kromhout 12-TV-120. This was at some point replaced by a Volvo Penta TAMD122A, her current engine.

In 1971, after disagreements between the Marijs Brothers, she was renamed SHEILA and sold, at which point she moved to West Mersea, Essex. That same year, she was purchased by T Hunter and D Walker of Scarborough, North Yorkshire. She was first registered as SINCERE CK97 in Colchester, and then as SINCERE A555 in Aberdeen

In 1984, she was purchased by J Reevely of Scarborough and registered there as FAITH, her current name, with code SH21. In 1990, she was purchased by L Watson of Scarborough. In 2001, she was decommissioned from the fishing fleet and sold as a houseboat, moving to Otterham Quay in the River Medway, Kent. In 2024, she was purchased by her current owner, remaining on the River Medway.
