History

FRIAR TUCK was built for the Docks and Inland Waterways Executive which became British Waterways.  She was in service until 2010 and was based at Newark-on-Trent mainly towing, dredging hoppers and undertaking other maintenance work.

The vessel has been used to demonstrate Trent towage by moving the Newark Heritage barge LEICESTER TRADER for an open day.  In 2012, she took part in a television documentary to transport presenter Tom Cunliffe to the LEICESTER TRADER.
