History
TOMMY LEE is a river and dock tug built by J. Pollock, Son & Co. Ltd. at Faversham in 1938. Her hull is made of riveted steel with welded upper-works and she has a counter stern. She has one mast and a derrick for hoisting the dinghy. Her engine is a Gardner diesel LX YC2 with a manual gear box, six cylinders and 127 brake horsepower, made in 1986. TOMMY LEE worked on the Thames and in the docks during her life, towing general cargo for the Thames and General Lighterage Company. She is believed to have been under Admiralty control during the Second World War between 1942 and in 1944, sent out to the East Indies, at which point her British registry (ON 166582) was cancelled. She is now in private ownership.
