National Historic Ships UK continues to add statements of significance to vessels on the NRHV. Statements of Significance are prepared using the three headings set out in our guidance publication Conserving Historic Vessels. These are being written as part of the ongoing National Historic Fleet Review, as part of our 1WW project and on a case-by-case basis in relation to vessel applications made to the Heritage Lottery or other funding bodies on which we are consulted.
We encourage owners to send us updates on current statements of significance, or to draft their own statements for vessels which do not currently have a statement in place. To assist with this process, we have developed a downloadable template with some supporting guidance on the type of information we are looking for when developing a statement of significance:
Owners who have completed a draft statement and wish to have it reviewed for publication on the vessel's online entry should email us. These statements will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the team as time permits.
