National Historic Ships UK's 2024 Flagship of the Year, Lady Daphne is a wooden Heritage Thames Sailing Barge of over 100 years old.  In the early part of her life (1923-1937) she was trading Cargo from London and Kent, bringing over 200 tonnes of building materials to the South West and then returning with China Clay, loaded at Charlestown Harbour, Fowey or Par, bound for the Paper Mills in Aylesford, Kent.  All this under sail alone and with 3 crew, Skipper, Mate and 3rd Hand, all youngsters.

We are the current custodians, Andy Taylor and Sam Howe and are taking Lady Daphne on the next chapter of her journey running events onboard, back in her original port, Charlestown Harbour.

As part of her ongoing needs there is continual maintenance and upkeep required.  Costs for this are huge and very time consuming.  We rely very much on volunteers to help and support us and we currently have around 20 FOLD (Friends of Lady Daphne) members.  However we are always on the lookout for more as there is always something to do !!.

Areas we need help with in particular are: Woodworking, Painting, Maintenance of Sails and Rigging, Social Media, Fundraising, Crew help at events-(bar, catering, hosting, preparing and clearing up the space etc)
