Britannia Sailing Trust are hugely grateful to all our volunteers helping to get Britannia floating again. If you have the capacity to learn a new skill or perhaps share some knowledge, we can assure you that volunteering with Britannia is both fulfilling and impactful.

As a charity, our mission is to teach and pass on the endangered skills involved with boatbuilding. To ensure these skills are passed on, we love to work with young people in particular, inspiring a love of boatbuilding whilst supporting their personal development towards future careers.

But it’s not just about building! It takes a wider team of individuals with a variety of skills to keep our Trust afloat and support this mission. That’s why we’re thrilled to be recruiting for the following roles…

Social Media Coordinator

Love to capture the moment? We’re in desperate need of someone to join our team, take pictures and videos, and post them on our socials. We already have a small but mighty, dedicated fanbase that want to see more of Britannia behind the scenes, share in our adventures, and engage with our community. If you’re looking to gain experience in photography, social media management, or marketing, now’s your time to shine!

Outreach Coordinator

Would you call yourself a people person? We’re on the hunt for the right personality to represent Britannia Sailing Trust at maritime and charity events, sharing her story to foster connections with interested parties. Working closely with the fundraising and events team, you’d be connecting with the local community and networking across the UK to raise awareness for our initiatives, garner support, and identify funding opportunities.

Operations Assistant

Looking to gain experience in project management? We need someone organised, focused, and just generally “on it”! In this role, you’d be helping keep track of the daily operations at Britannia, including scheduling, correspondence, and administrative support. With the opportunity to work from home, this volunteer role offers flexibility as well as the chance to make a real impact in our community!

Operations Supervisor

While we have plenty of hands on deck, we need more people with maritime or management experience to oversee operations, provide guidance to our young volunteers, and make sure nobody gets hurt. In this role, you’d play a crucial part in helping us achieve our restoration goals while directly supporting young people’s development as they strive towards independence, stability, and personal growth.

Before you apply:

All our volunteer roles are available to individuals of all ages and backgrounds, as long as we think your experience and personality lend to the role. So don’t be shy – apply!

Regardless of the role you might play at Britannia, what we really need are passionate, reliable people who are genuinely dedicated to making a positive impact towards our mission. Whether you’re a student or retiree, we seek team members who are not only enthusiastic, but eager to contribute meaningfully to our projects.

Think you’ve got what it takes?

Fantastic! Please let us know which role(s) you’re interested in, a little bit about yourself, and what kind of time you can realistically volunteer on a regular basis by completing this form + in full.

Then send your application to Britannia1915@gmail.com and a member of our team will be in touch!
