The Norfolk Heritage Fleet Trust is looking for new Trustees to bring their interests, skills, and experience to our board. We manage the last remaining fleet of traditional Norfolk Broads hire yachts, known as Hunter’s Fleet.

We are seeking passionate and committed individuals who have a background and experience in governance, fundraising, finance, or professional services to join our Board of Trustees. As a trustee, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction and governance of the Trust, ensuring we continue to preserve our historic fleet and promote sailing education. The Board of Trustees has the ultimate responsibility for making sure the Norfolk Heritage Fleet Trust is well-run, financially secure, and delivers its objectives for the benefit of the public.

We are looking for applicants with specific experience in the leisure and tourism sector (either in Norfolk or further afield). We are also looking for an applicant with financial skills to replace our Treasurer who is retiring as a Trustee.

You do not have to have a passion for sailing or a background in heritage conservation. A full briefing on the history of the Trust will be provided as part of a trustee’s induction.

Responsibilities:

Trustees play an active role on the Board. As a trustee, you will support the Chair to:

  1. Attend bimonthly board meetings and actively participate in sub-committees as agreed.
  2. Provide strategic oversight and governance.

  4. Make sure we have the policies, practices, and conditions in place to enable everyone who works with us to do a great job.
  5. Develop and oversee strategic plans to enhance the Trust’s impact and reach.
  6. Engage with stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and community partners, to build strong relationships.
