Tall Ship Glenlee - Restoration Works
Project location: Tall Ship Glenlee, Glasgow
The Tall Ship Glenlee is an 1896 Clydebuilt historic vessel located on the River Clyde in Glasgow. Following a lengthy service under the British Merchant Navy followed by the Spanish Royal Navy, the ship returned to Glasgow in 1992 and is a popular visitor attraction, museum and events venue throughout the year. Two separate packages of restoration works on the Tall Ship Glenlee (TSG) are being tendered as part of a wider regime of restoration works.
Package 1 includes restoration works to the masts, spars and rigging. The scope can broadly be summarised as follows:
- Cleaning, inspection, testing & repairs to masts, yards and spars.
- Inspection, and repairs to rigging.
- Repair / replacement of deck items, including monkey rails, main rail pins, chess-tree bits, bulwark sheave boxes, and triple sister blocks.
Package 2 includes restoration works to the forecastle & poop decks. The scope can broadly be summarised as follows:
- Removal of deck planks and repair / replace of the underlying steel stringers.
- Re-laying of the decking.
Please note that the packages will be awarded separately, but submissions which cover both packages may be considered.
