The Outboard Shop

The business was launched in 2006 with the aim of selling new outboard engines, as well as outboard servicing, repairs and the provision of outboard parts. Our fully equipped 1,500 square foot workshop and showroom enables us to provide an extensive range of outboard services and related products. Where owners have problems is delivering their engine or boat to our workshop we are happy to travel and provide on-site servicing. If required, we can travel and remove engines for workshop servicing. In short, we aim to provide products and services tailored to the needs of individual boat owners.

The Unicorn Preservation Society

The Unicorn Preservation Society was formed in 1968 and is charged with the conservation and preservation of HMS Unicorn as a Museum and Heritage Asset. The Society is a registered charity in Scotland, registration number SC002771 and is constituted as a Company Limited by Guarantee, registration number SC046145. We have ambitious plans to secure HMS Unicorn's future by dry-docking her close to her current location. The Unicorn Preservation Society operates and maintains HMS Unicorn as a museum and visitor attraction in Dundee.

UHI Orkney Maritime Studies Dept. University of the Highlands and Islands

A small maritime school serving the needs of local seafarers. Known locally as "the Nav School". This is the location of Scotland's only sailmaking course. Tutor Mark Shiner also a travels to Scottish heritage projects, working with volunteers and carrying out "community sail builds" or maritime hand skills workshops. In 2023, Mark trained the sailmaking team at America's Mystic Seaport Museum and in 2025 was awarded the Heritage Crafts Assoc: Scotland and UK Maker of the Year awards for the preservation of traditional sailmaking.
