Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI) is a unique internationally recognised centre of excellence, bringing together research, innovation and education communities from universities, research institutes, industry and governments.

Our mission, in partnership with Lloyd's Register and other business, civic and industrial societies, is to become the leading institute for marine and maritime innovation, education and expertise. We have created a unique cross-disciplinary spectrum covering humanities, natural sciences, physical sciences and social sciences where knowledge acquisition and application is achieved in a collaborative manner with business, civic and industrial societies in order to reach our common objectives.
