The Rural Skills Centre caters for all levels of ability and offers courses to meet a wide range of previous experience. All courses lead to certification either from college or where applicable, from recognised awarding bodies. These courses aim to meet the needs of both students and external businesses/organisations, providing training to increase skills levels, productivity and to meet legislative requirements. Courses of particular interest to 'National Historic Ships' members are: Blacksmithing and Ornamental Ironwork - short taster course or city and guilds level 2 in forge work, welding and fabrication - college certification and BS tests: a range of courses covering ARC (MMA) M.I.G, T.I.G, and Oxy-Acetylene welding, sheet metal work, abrasive wheels certification, operation of power tools, chainsaws etc, health and safety plus risk assessment training and first aid courses.
