In 1995 Hood launched Vektron(tm) sailcloth, a breakthrough in sailcloth technology, utilising Vektran(R) fibre to weave a higher strength, lighter weight woven fabric with superior durability and longevity. This process which has a worldwide patent, has been pioneered by Hood Textiles in Ireland. Because Vektron sailcloth is fully woven it is not subject to the delamination and handling problems inherent in laminate constructions.

Sails are available in 'Inshore' and 'Offshore' finish specifications, for Coastal cruising or longer passage-making and in Hood premium woven Dacrons or Hood's exclusive and unsurpassed woven Vektron(tm) - both available in white, classic cream or tan.
