History
SIREN is thought to have been built originally as an Admiralty Pinnace, at some point in 1905, and is suspected to have been of steam propulsion originally. She was known for most of her life as SEA NYMPH. She is of double diagonal construction, with a teak hull originally, and she still has the bronze leading eyes from her days of being winched up large Admiralty vessels.
She is first recorded in the Lloyds Register as having been converted by R.C.J Hervey, a known pleasure launch builder, in 1927. At this point, she was fitted with a 25-30hp six-cylinder Wolseley motor.
In 1931, she was owned by Dr J Paxton of London. In 1933, she was purchased by Major E Price-Innocent of London. In 1935, she was purchased by A H Copp of London, who owned her until 1947.
In 1949, she was purchased by R C King of London. In 1954, she was purchased by F A Whiting of London, and by F J Stoneham the following year. In 1960, she was purchased by L W Fincham, and in 1962 she was purchased by R C Grist. In 1966, she was purchased by M A Miles and G M Porter of London.
After that, her history is unknown until 2000, when it is known she underwent a great deal of work by professional shipwrights M W Jackson of Kent. In 2020, she was sold by T Sutherland, who had renamed her SIREN, to P Squires, who carried out further restoration in the following two years they owned her. In 2022, she was purchased by her current owner.
