History
SEVEN RAVENS, originally named JAMEL, was built in 1971 at Les Allen's boat yard at Valencia Wharf, Oldbury, West Midlands. At that time, the Allen family boatyard and the craftsmen associated with the yard at the time (Albert Brookes, John Horton, Arthur East, Glynn Phillips) were finding ways to transition narrowboats from their traditional role as working boats to a new role as leisure boats. SEVEN RAVENS represents this important moment in British inland waterways history as one of the first purpose built leisure narrowboats.
She is powered by the original Lister SR3 diesel. Over the years she has served as a weekend cruiser and a liveaboard. She has been refitted over the years, but the hull, cabin and machinery has remained original. In 2016, she was renamed ELANGENI, and in 2020 she was renamed SEVEN RAVENS. She was featured in the opening scene of the film Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again (2018).
Update, March 2025: Vessel for sale.
