BRISTOL fleet no 123 Town Class Large Woolwich, was commissioned by the grand union canal carrying company in 1936 and constructed by Harland and Wolff. She was registered in Brantford on the 1st January 1937 reg no 623. 2nd registration in Coventry 1961 reg no 556. She was sold by British Waterways to Willow Wren January 1962 and re named DIPPER. The original National engine was removed and the current Lister HB2 fitted with a Blackstone gear box. After commercial carrying ceased, DIPPER was sold to Black Prince hire fleet to become there flagship boat. A fore end cabin added and the hold was lined for leisure use retaining the boatmans cabin and engine "ole". she was reverted back to her original name BRISTOL.
She has now been in private ownership since the 80's with various owners and is currently undergoing a restoration at Braunston Boats LTD back to carrying condition with work commencing 13th of May 2023.
