ALCOR built in 1935 by Harland & Wolff, Wollwich and delivered to GUCCC in November 1935, fleet no. 4. She is of riveted steel sides and elm bottoms. She was intended on being paired wiht butty ALPHONS (4b, later 208). Health registered in Brentford no. 550. Gauged in June 1936 Rickmansworth no.12550 with 33 tons at 49.30" draught.
in 1941, ALCOR was hired to the London Fire Service, based at Wharfdale Rd, Regents Canal, Fleet no. LFS19 fitted with 3 Dennis pumps during the blitz. Mentioned in the memoirs of several of the IW 'women trainees' from the later war years. Amateur Boatwomen, E.Gayford, Troubled Waters, M. Cornish, Idle Women, S. Woolfitt. in 1948 she was nationalised into British Transport Comission (later British Waterways). 1963- Sold via sealed tender, sold to TTC Goring on Thames. In 1964 steerer David Blagrove towed the Skinners aboard FRIENDSHIP to the IWA festival of boats and reopening of Stratford upon Avon southern section. as recounted in the book The Quiet Waters by David Blagrove and Journeys of the Swan, J. Liley. Various private owners in the years after including Tony Lewery who painted the backcabin.
