History

GOLDEN DAWN was built in Sandhaven in 1964 by J G Forbes. She was originally fitted with a Caterpillar engine which was later replaced by a Cummins diesel engine. Her hull and deck remained original though her wheelhouse was changed over time. At the time of registration in 2017, work was being carried out on the vessel including re-caulking below her waterline, caulking the deck and fitting a fish hold to the accommodation.

In August 2023 GOLDEN DAWN started to take on water on a trip Gloucester after springing planks in the bow, possibly from hitting an object in the water.  Despite the best efforts of the RNLI bringing extra pumps, she sank in the Bristol estuary in deep water on foul ground.
