History

KATHRINE JEAN was built in Denmark in 1935 as a fishing trawler and is a vessel of oak carvel construction with a Gardner diesel engine. In 1942 the crew sailed her from Denmark to Grimsby where she was offered for war service. Armed with machine guns she was used to supply many larger ships. Later she became a Grimsby trawler for many years. The vessel has sat on the Thames for the last 15 years and had been earmarked for dismantling before being bought by her present owner who intends to transform her into a pirate galleon for commercial and charitable operations.
