History
FERRY PRINCE was built for the Gosport & Portsea Watermans Steam Launch Company in 1939. The vessel was passed immediately to the Royal Navy for use as an examination vessel. She returned to ferry service in 1941, but all her Naval requisitions had reduced her ferry capacity too much. In 1961 she was passed to the Portsmouth Harbour Ferry Company and was retained as a reserve ferry until 1966, when she was sold to Thames Pleasure Craft who initially ran her as a steam ship. In 1967 she had a diesel engine installed.
In 2016, she was acquired by her current owners, who use her as a live in boat and have done extensive work to that effect, including repainting decks and hull twice and installing a new bathroom, two new gangplanks and all external doors. She now has 3 bedrooms with a fourth being worked on.
