History

OTTER was built by W J Yarwood & Sons Ltd in 1928 and worked for the canal transportation company Fellows Morton & Clayton until they were nationalised. OTTER attended the opening of the widened Hatton Locks on 20/10/1934. Toll records show that in the late 1940's OTTER ran from Ellesmere Port, often with flour. OTTER was acquired into the South Midland Water Transport fleet in April 2008 after having been privately owned by Les Disley for 17 years and based on the River Chess in Rickmansworth. The wooden conversion was removed in June 2010 at Narrowcraft's, Grendon Dock with the intention of restoring her to full working order.
