History

GUIDING LIGHT is a twelve ton Gauntlet built by Berthon Boat Company Limited in 1936 at Lymington. Her hull is carvel built, with oak frames and pitch pine planking, fastened with single rivets and screws. She has a pointed bow and stern and one timber mast. Her current engine is a Lister Petter LPW3/S, with three cylinders and twenty-seven horsepower, made in 1993.

GUIDING LIGHT has been under new ownership since November 2020 and based in St Lucia, where she has been undergoing restoration. Sadly since the death of the previous owner she had sunk and then been hauled out onto the hard in full view of the sun. Under the new owners, a major restoration has started. The deck and interior have been completely stripped and the vessel is now being rebuilt.  She will have a new engine.
