The Shipshape Network connects over 100 external maritime heritage projects, showcasing their activity across eight key zones and providing a dedicated web space for organisations and individuals to promote their progress and achievements.
The criteria for a Shipshape project is that it be either (i) a time bound activity that involves conserving / developing a maritime heritage item, vessel or port facility, (ii) an event related to historic vessels and associated maritime facilities, (iii) an initiative to further traditional maritime skills, or (iv) the use of heritage items and historic vessels to enable community outreach, public access or education involving our rich maritime past.
Examples of good Shipshape Network projects include: the conservation of a vessel from the National Register of Historic Vessels, the development of historic vessel focussed educational or community outreach scheme, a festival highlighting maritime heritage, or a one-off training scheme for young people.
