HISTORIC PASSENGER VESSELS - 'GRANDFATHER RIGHTS' UPDATE

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has published a new amendment to their Grandfather Rights regulations which seeks to clarify some requirements for historic passenger vessels.

The MCA carried out a targeted industry consultation from 5 September to 4 October 2024 on MGN 627 Amendment 2, which intends to clarify and better reflect the legislative changes

brought about by the Regulations and associated Marine Notices.

The amendments to the MGN are driven by early experiences arising from the scrutiny of the Grandfather Rights implementation, and are designed to give greater clarity and enable the MGN

to better reflect the legislative changes the Grandfather Rights Regulations implemented.
