Our 2-week workshop course will teach you to build your own hand-crafted wooden paddleboard.

Spend two weeks building your own hand-crafted timber paddleboard built over an internal “fishbone” frame. The board you will make is designed for general use, it has a beginner friendly form with good stability, but is fairly quick and suitable for surfing, yoga, and fishing.

Our tutors will be guiding you step by step, so no previous experience is needed.

You can bring one friend or family member to spend two weeks together making a wooden SUP paddleboard.

You will start by gluing up your board deck, in a style of your own choosing using yellow and red cedar, before putting together the internal skeleton and bonding that to the board bottom to create the rocker. Once that’s together you’ll build up the rest of the board, adding the rails, a nose and tail, and the deck you made will top it off.

With the timber parts all together, you’ll hand shape the board to its final profile before sheathing it with glass and resin. We’ll introduce you to the woodworking tools and techniques required to build and shape the board and we’ll start you making a paddle of your own which you can work on in the quieter moments whilst glues and resins are curing.

The course runs for two weeks including part or all of the middle Saturday.
