History

FCB 75 is one of thirty nine such vessels built during World War II using a stem head design, which can be clearly seen on this vessel. These concrete barges were the test beds for the Mulberry Harbour temporary and portable harbour system for the D Day landings. FCB 75 was beached at Purton in 1965 as part of the River Severn and Gloucester and Sharpness canal foreshore strengthening scheme which commenced in 1909.
