History
PRUNELLA is a twin screw motor yacht built for Mr. Muirhead, the Director of a company which designed and manufactured marine stabilisers. She was used as a floating test bed for these products. Mr. Muirhead was a member of the Royal Motor Yacht Club and kept PRUNELLA at Brightlingsea in Essex. He often beached her on the hard there, so that he could change devices fitted below the waterline whilst the tide was out. It is believed that the Admiralty requisitioned PRUNELLA during the Second World War and that she was a fleet tender at Scapa Flow. In 1975-1980, she was sold to Mr. Coward of Stomps Garage in Chelmsford, Essex, who owned her until his death in 2002. During this time, she spent each summer in Brightlingsea on a swinging mooring and each winter in Tollesbury.
