The Lakeland Arts Trust is seeking a Project Curator to work on the Windermere Steamboat Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection's care, for preparing Conservation Management plans for the boats, and for researching the final concept of the new museum. This is a superb career opportunity for an exceptional person to be involved right from the beginning in a really important project, and to live and work in a very beautiful area.
The job will be advertised from 1st August in the Museums Journal but details can be found now on our website, www.steamboat.co.uk (we need applications to be back with us by August 13th). Interviews will be held between August 20th and 31st, at the Steamboat Museum, Windermere. If potential candidates want an informal chat they can call me (Frances Snowden) on (015394) 46139 or, between July 19th and August 2nd, Edward King, on the same number.
The position of Project Curator is the first post to be created, but several more will become available during the development of the project. Anyone interested to follow the scheme as it progresses can do so via the website at www.steamboat.co.uk .
