History

Built 1934 by Harris Brothers, Bumblehole, Netherton, BEN is a narrowboat constructed of iron. She has a 16 hp Lister CE diesel engine.

Built to carry coal from the Black Country coal fields to Kidderminster for the carpet trade, she was subsequently owned by T & S Elements of Oldbury and used in general trade in the Birmingham area. Later she was leased to Albright & Wilson and used for the carriage of chemicals. BEN was working until 1967 carrying coal from the Angelsey Basin to the GEC works.
