History
Built in 1949 by Philip & Son, Dartmouth, LADY WAKEFIELD is a steel hulled passenger vessel with a capacity for 150 passengers. Her current engine is a Gardner diesel installed in 1965. Her original owners were the River Dart Steamboat Company Ltd. and her area of operation was Plymouth Harbour, the rivers Yealm and Tamar. She was known as TOTNES CASTLE from 1972 and ran a summer ferry service to Cawsand and occasional trips to Looe.
In July 2005 she was bought by her current owner and transported to Ullswater. LADY WAKEFIELD has now been completely refurbished and is in use as a passenger vessel on Lake Ullswater in the Lake District. The two year refurbishment was finished in March 2007 and she was recommissioned in a ceremony by HRH Princess Alexandra on April 17 2007.
