History

Built 1929 by W J Yarwood & Sons, Northwich, BECK is a narrowboat of iron construction with steel rivets. Her current engine is an inboard diesel by R A Lister, model SP2, 23hp installed in 1950.

She was built for the LMS Railway Company and worked initially in the Birmingham and Tipton areas and was originally a horse drawn craft. She was transferred to the British Transport Commission in 1954 and to the British Waterways Board in 1963. In 1980 she was sold to Mr M E Brain who converted her to a full length motor boat for residential use. She was bought by her present owner in 2001 and remains a live aboard boat.
