History

Built in 1935 by W J Yarwood of Northwich, BRAMBLE is a narrow boat with a steel hull built for Fellows Morton & Clayton, subsequently passed to British Waterways carrying fleet and then to BW maintenance fleet. She was cut down to a tug around 1960 and has been restored to her original condition.

These brief histories are compiled from details supplied by vessel owners and enthusiasts and from various reference works. National Historic Ships would be grateful for any corrections of facts or additional information for inclusion. Please contact ron.ellis@nationalhistoricships.org.uk

Subsequent developments

2007/8 - BRAMBLE was awarded a sustainability grant by National Historic Ships for £3,000 to cover the costs of new gunwales and running gear. Source: National Historic Ships
