History

GRAB No 1 was built in 1927 by the Blyth Shipbuilding Company with dredging equipment supplied by Priestman and has a steel hull which can carry 45 tons. Today she has a Ruston-Bucyrus 400 SC Supercrane purchased in 1982. The crane barge is used within the port to assist with the maintenance of berths and jetties and was used extensively in 1982/3 in the construction of the nine wind turbines erected on the East Pier.
