Captain GA Hogg RN Rtd

Captain GA Hogg RN RtdBorn in 1935, he has strong Cornish roots as his great grandfather was a local shipbuilder and his grandfather served as a Chief Engineer with the Hain Steamship Co. He started his naval career as a 16 year old cadet in 1952, qualified as an Engineer Officer and served in a variety of ships and shore establishments at home and abroad. His last naval appointment was as the Defence Attache in the British Embassy in Peru. In 1988 when he retired he returned to Cornwall, where together with his wife he built a house near Padstow. Before the house was finished he became deeply involved in local maritime research and was the Hon. Curator of the original Falmouth Maritime Museum from 1993 until its closure in 2001. In 1997 he became one of the founding trustees of the National Maritime Museum Cornwall where he has played an active part in the project through all its stages from inception to completion. He is still an active trustee and is now concentrating on developing the National Small Boat Register.
